RED CREEK GROUP SITE (CO), Curecanti National Recreation Area, CODescriptionCurecanti National Recreation Area is situated between Montrose and Gunnison, Colorado. Red Creek Group Campground is located on the north side of Highway 50 approximately 20 miles west of Gunnison and 3 1/2 miles west of Elk Creek. Altitude is 7800'. This a semi-arid shrub land with vast expanses of sagebrush. Cell phone coverage is limited. More Information: Ride through the upper Black Canyon on a 42 passenger pontoon boat. The Morrow Point Boat Tour is a guided 1 1/2 hour trip that runs daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Reservations are required and walk-ons are not permitted. Alerts and Important InformationReservable season for 2010 is May 21 - September 11. Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. Other campsites are available on a 'first come/first served' basis. Campground gate will be locked when site is not reserved. Go to Elk Creek Visitor Center to notify staff of your arrival. For reservations outside this window or for further information, please call 970-641-2337. There is a vehicle/trailer length limit for this group campsite. Vehicles over 22 feet are not recommended due to a limited turn around area. Sorry, no refunds will be given for bad weather, poor fishing, or dissatisfaction with campground. All watercraft on Blue Mesa Reservoir are required to be certified as Zebra and Quagga Mussel free. A MANDATORY inspection is required before launcing your watercraft.
