Whitewater Falls Pass

National Forests in North Carolina

Open year round. Plunging an amazing 411 feet in North Carolina and another 400 feet in South Carolina, Whitewater Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Rockies. A paved walkway leads to the upper overlook, and a lower overlook is located at the bottom of 154 wooden steps; these two overlooks provide the best views of the falls. Please stay on the trails - visitors have fallen to their death or suffered serious injuries at Whitewater Falls.

All visitors to National Forests in North Carolina must display a valid pass at day use fee sites where required. Choose your pass based on the site where you will be recreating.

If purchasing your pass on-site, no printed copy of the pass will be available. Instead, your license plate number will be used to confirm compliance.

If purchasing a pass in advance, a printed copy of the pass is recommended for your vehicle as connectivity is limited.
