NORTH RIM CAMPGROUND (AZ), Grand Canyon National Park, AZDescriptionPlease read ALL of the important information on this page by scrolling down to the very bottom. Effective May 15th, 2010, the North Rim Campground has undergone some significant changes. Many sites have been re-numbered, and the group sites and tent only sites have been re-located. Please pay close attention if you have a favorite site. It may have a different number! AZ Hwy 67 to the North Rim Campground is closed From Dec.01 until May 15 Each Year .The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is closed (except for trans-canyon hikers) from December 1 through May the 14th. The 90 site North Rim Campground is located on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park at the end of Arizona Highway 67. Elevation is 8200 feet and the Campground is shaded by large Ponderosa pines and aspen. The Grand Canyon Lodge at the North Rim and the Visitor Center are 1 mile south, at the end of Hwy 67. Peak season: is May 15th through Oct. 15th. All sites are reservable during this time, and can be reserved 6 months in advance. There are NO first come, first served sites during this period. Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. Family and Premium sites are restricted to 6 people and 2 vehicles. An RV, trailer or pop-up is considered a vehicle. Group sites are restricted to 25 people and 3 cars. Group sites cost $50.00 per night. Amenities: include a picnic table and fire ring with cooking grill at each site, potable water at spigots placed throughout the campground, flush toilets, and a dump station. Pay phones, showers and laundry are available within walking distance for a fee. The Grand Canyon Lodge dining room, Deli, Camper Store, Gift shop, Post Office etc. are operational only during Peak Season. Pets are allowed in Family sites ONLY, must be kept on a 6' leash, and must be attended at all times. Pets are not allowed on any hiking trails or view points, except the Bridle path trail. Off season camping: is available from Oct 16th through November 30th OR until highway 67 closes due to snow. Please pay close attention to weather conditions and contact ADOT at 888-411-1491 to check on road conditions before coming to the park. Sites are available on a first come first served basis, and cost $12.00 per night. Water is available a half-mile from the Campground at the North Rim Administration building. The dump station is closed, and there are portable toilets available. The Entrance Station is open and charging entry fees. The Visitor center and gift shop will be open from 9 AM to 4 PM. Alerts and Important InformationARRIVALS: Check in is available starting at 11AM on day of arrival. Check out time is 10AM. Campers arriving after hours will find their campsite assignment posted on the kiosk located at the campground entrance, and you must confirm your reservation by 8am the next morning. LATE ARRIVALS: If your reservation is for more than one night and you will not arrive until the next day, you must call the campground by 10am MST the day after your arrival date. If we do not hear from you by that time, we will process your reservation as a no show, and we will release the site. You will be charged a $20.00 transaction fee and your first night's camping fee. If you do not get an answer, call the Fee Management Office at 928-638-7814 where you can leave a message.DRIVING DISTANCE: North Rim Campground is 210 driving miles (4.5 hours) north of Mather (South Rim) Campground. NUMBER of OCCUPANTS: You may have up to 6 people per campsite. Reserving blocks of sites for commercial group camping or large family group gatherings is prohibited. These are single family RV/Tent sites. Group sites are available and must be reserved for these activities.NUMBER of VEHICLES/PARKING: No more than 2 motor vehicles or one vehicle with trailer are allowed per family campsite. Please keep wheels, including trailer wheels and guest cars, on the pavement. Tent Only sites are limited to one passenger vehicle. Park in designated spaces only. EQUIPMENT ALLOWED: Family sites may have 3 small tents or one tent in addition to a motor home or trailer. Please keep tents on the pad, where provided. Tent Only sites are limited to one large tent or 2 small tents. No RVs of any kind, including pop-ups, cabovers, and conversion vans, are allowed in the Tent-Only and Group campsites. Moving or altering campsite facilities, i.e. picnic tables, fire grates, etc is prohibited. Many sites are not level and may require additional leveling equipment. (See the individual site descriptions)NO HOOK-UPS: There are no electric, water, or sewer hook-ups at this campground. Potable water is available from spigots in the campground. We have no way to provide electricity for medical needs at any campsites, including ADA sites. QUIET HOURS AND GENERATORS: Quiet hours are in effect from 10pm to 6am. Generator use is allowed 7AM to 9AM and 6PM to 8PM and is strictly enforced. During quiet hours, noise-producing equipment should be turned off and entry to the campground is limited to registered campers. Unreasonable noise (such as shouting that can be heard at non-adjacent campsites, and external extremely loud generators, loud radios etc.) is prohibited at any time.FOOD STORAGE: Keep all food and trash stored in your vehicle, not outside or in your tent where it can attract wild animals such as coyotes. FIRES AND WOOD GATHERING: Fire wood is for sale at the Campground General Store from 5/15-10/15. Fires MUST be contained within the fire grate and MUST be attended at all times. Fires must be cold to the touch before leaving the campsite. Do not throw garbage in fire pits, including cigarette butts. During the hot summer months fire restrictions are common and campfires may be prohibited.WASTE WATER: Dish wash water must be drained at utility sinks located at each restroom or at the dump station, not on the ground or at fresh water taps. Do not wash or bathe at water spigots or fountains. RV gray water and sewage must be drained only at the dump station. RV fresh water tanks must be filled at the dump station, not at water spigots in the Campground. Showers are available adjacent to the campground for a fee. Portable showers are prohibited. Getting There:North Rim Campground (AZ)NPS. General Delivery North Rim AZ 86052 GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude): 36.21028, -112.06056 The North Rim is located at the end on Highway 67, about 41 miles south of Jacob Lake, Arizona, 87 miles south of Kanab, Utah, and 120 miles southwest of Page, Arizona. It is 210 driving miles (4.5 hours) north of Mather (South Rim) campground. Highway 67 is the only road in and out of the North Rim. There is no access by road across the canyon from the North Rim to the South Rim. From AZ Highway 89a, take AZ Highway 67 South 30 miles to the Park Entrance. Located about 11.5 miles from the Entrance Station, the turn for the campground is the second right after the North Kaibab Trailhead parking area. The turn to the campground is 1/4 mile PAST the turn off for the North Rim Unit (Administration) and Backcountry Offices.
