SUMMIT LAKE NORTH (CA), Lassen Volcanic National Park, CA

Description

Summit Lake North Campground is located at the north end and within walking distance of Summit Lake. It is centrally located on the main Park road. A major trailhead to the Park's interior is located 1/4 mile north at the Summit Lake Ranger Station. Trails to Lassen Peak and Bumpass Hell are within 10 miles. Summit Lake is popular for swimming. Interpretive programs are presented at the Amphitheater.

Alerts and Important Information

  • DURING THE 2010 SUMMER SEASON ROAD CONSTRUCTION WILL TAKE PLACE ON 11 MILES OF THE MAIN PARK ROAD FROM MANZANITA LAKE SOUTH TO DERSCH MEADOWS, EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS.

  • NO RESERVATIONS ACCEPTED AFTER SEPTEMBER 5, 2010 DUE TO ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND REPAVING THAT WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE CAMPGROUND. LIMITED NUMBER OF FIRST COME-FIRST SERVED SITES MAY BE AVAILABLE DURING THIS TIME UNTIL THE CAMPGROUND CLOSES.

  • Reservations must be made 4 days in advance.
  • Additional campsites available on a first come-first served basis with no reservation required.
  • There are no electricity/water or sewer hookups at this campground.
  • Campers must have a valid entrance or pass before camping. Entrance Fee is $10 per vehicle.
  • All food and scented products must be stored in the bear lockers provided at each campsite.
  • Pets must be on a 6' leash at all times, must not be left unattended and are not allowed on park trails.
