WAWONA (CA), Yosemite National Park, CA

Description

The Wawona Campground family sites remain open year round, and are currently available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Horse camp has closed for the 2009 season, and the Group Campsite remains on reservations year-round.

Wawona Campground offers Family, Group, and Horse campsites:

  • Family sites (93) -- 30 sites available first-come first-serve during the winter months.
  • Group site (1) -- Available year-round by reservation only; group size=13-30 people, tent only
  • Horse sites (2) -- You MUST have a horse with you to camp in these sites, no exceptions! (if you arrive without a horse, your reservation will be cancelled). Available by reservation only from April 10-September 27, 2009. Reservations for Horse Sites can only be made over the phone at (877)444-6777. On-line reservations are not accepted for horse sites.

  • This campground is located at the southern end of Yosemite National Park at 4000 feet in elevation. It is 27 miles and a 45 minute drive to the valley.

Alerts and Important Information

Bear Habitat!

  • Food and toiletries must be stored 24 hoursday.
  • Food lockers are provided in all campsites (45x18x33).
  • Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles.
  • Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters.
  • These rules are STRICTLY enforced!

    Campsites will only accommodate the equipment listed in your reservation. If you bring something else and it does not fit, your reservation will be cancelled. There is no switching of sites.

  • The maximum allowable trailer length is always shorter than the allowable motorhome length due to maneuverability. You are responsible for reading the site alerts, and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment.

    If arriving one or more days late, call (209)375-9535. Your reservation will be forfeited if we do not hear from you within 24hrs of your arrival date.

    Resale, advertisement for sale, or auction of advance reservations made through the National Recreation Reservation Service, regardless of price, is prohibited.

    Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Follow signs to Wawona. The campground is located 8 miles inside the park on Highway 41, and 27 miles from Yosemite Valley.
