Tuolumne Meadows Campground has closed for the 2009 season.
Tuolumne Meadows Campground is located in Yosemite National Park in Central California at 8600 feet in elevation and contains Family, Horse and Group camp sites. It is 55 miles (2 hours) from Yosemite Valley along the Tioga Road. There are no electric, water, or sewer hook-ups (a dump station is located nearby).

  • The family campsites can accommodate tents or RVs. The maximum allowable trailer length is always shorter than the allowable motorhome length due to maneuverability. You are responsible for reading the site alerts, and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment.

  • The Group Camp is tent-only (no sleeping in vehicles).

  • You must have a horse with you in order to camp in the horse sites. Reservations for Horse Sites can only be made over the phone at (877)444-6777. On-line reservations are not accepted for horse sites.

  • Pets are not permitted in Group or Horse campsites, but are allowed in family sites (they must be on a 6ft leash and may not be left unattended).

    Alerts and Important Information

    Bear Habitat. Food storage rules are strictly enforced. Food and toiletries must be stored 24 hours a day in food lockers provided in all campsites (45x18x33). No food in vehicles. Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters.

  • Your campsite is reserved for the camping equipment you have chosen. If you arrive to the park with different camping equipment, your site might not be able to accommodate it. No switching of sites.

  • The maximum allowable trailer length is always shorter than the allowable motorhome length due to maneuverability. You are responsible for reading the site alerts, and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment.

    Road conditions can change at any time. Please check road and weather before arriving at (209)372-0200 for conditions inside Yosemite, and 1-800-427-ROAD for conditions outside the park. Highway 120 over Tioga Pass from Lee Vining and the Glacier Point Road are closed seasonally.

    If arriving one or more days late, call (209)3724025. Your reservation will be forfeited if we do not hear from you within 24hrs of your arrival date.

    Entrance fee to the park is $20 per private vehicle.


    Resale, advertisement for sale, or auction of advance reservations made through the National Recreation Reservation Service, regardless of price, is prohibited.

    Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, Highway 120 east from Manteca or west from Lee Vining (state route 395) into Yosemite National Park. Tuolumne Meadows Campground is located 5 miles from the Tioga Pass Entrance station (Hwy 120 from the east), and is 55 miles (2 hours) from Yosemite Valley.
