OLD MINERS MEADOW GROUP USE (OR), Salem, OR

Description

Old Miner's Meadow is a three acre group use area located along the Quartzville Creek National Wild and Scenic River. There is no host on site and groups access the area through a locked gate. Only one group is allowed to reserve the site at one time. Campsites within the group-use area are not designated, but fires are only allowing in the existing metal fire rings. Ammenities include vault restrooms, picnic tables and fire rings. Groups are required to bring their own potable water and firewood. The roads shown inside the site are gravel. A combination lock will be in place when you arrive.

Alerts and Important Information

Those interested in reserving Old Miner's Meadow should know that large groups often camp just outside the group-use area on private land. These groups may be quite active until later in the evenings and while BLM encourages these groups to be good neighbors, BLM does not have management jurisdiction over the area. Walk-in use of the restrooms by those camping outside Old Miner??A?s Meadow is also allowed. Use of garbage dumpster is also allowed by those camping outside of Old Miner's Meadow.

Reservations limited to a five night maximum. Exceeding maximum requires park manager approval - 503-897-2406, Park Manager can be contacted after February 23rd, 2005. No host on site, contact Yellowbottom Campground Host - one mile from site.

2 night minimum on weekends and holidays 4 day minimum advance window for reservations The fee is $30.00 per night Sunday-Thursday and $40.00 per night Friday-Saturday.

Your Group is responsible for locking the gate upon departure. Gate is secured with a combination that will provided on your confirmation letter text.

From Sweet Home Oregon, head east on U.S. Highway 20 and approximately one mile out of town turn left on the Quartzville Access Road heading towards Green Peter Reservoir and Quartzville Creek. Old Miner's Meadow is located on the right side of the road approximately 25 miles up Quartzville Road about one mile past Yellowbottom Recreation Site.
