Overview

Big Silver Group Campground sits along the Union Valley Reservoir and Big Silver Creek in the Eldorado National Forest. Visitors enjoy the lake's plentiful fish population, as well as the region's forest-lined scenic views and ample opportunity for recreation.

Natural Features:

The campground is situated in a Ponderosa pine forest on the north side of Big Silver Creek, at an elevation of 4,900 feet. A variety of migratory birds and wildlife can be seen in the area.

Recreation:

The campground has immediate access to the trailhead for the Union Valley Bike Trail. The paved, two-lane bikeway stretches for several miles both north and south of the campground. The trail offers fairly easy terrain, with a few short, steep grades.

Union Valley Reservoir is only a five-minute bike ride from the campground. Anglers can enjoy abundant kokanee salmon, trout and smallmouth bass populations on the lake.

In addition to fishing, campers come to the area to sail on the lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife that make their home in the area.

Facilities:

The campground offers tent and RV camping for up to 50 guests. A group kitchen area provides multiple tables and grills, as well as a campfire circle. Accessible vault toilets and trash collection are provided.
