ALL (2) OverviewFaucherie Campground is located next to spectacular Faucherie Lake at the end of a rough, dirt road, approximately 20 miles from Highway 20.Visitors enjoy the area for its fishing and canoeing opportunities in a scenic, remote setting, surrounded by mountains. Natural Features:Faucherie Lake is situated at the base of rocky cliffs, which can be viewed from the campground. Large boulders are strewn throughout the area. Some consider Faucherie to be the prettiest lake in the Sierras. Recreation:Canoeing, kayaking and trout fishing are popular activities on Faucherie Lake. Hiking trails crisscross the surrounding area, including one to the 18-foot Faucherie Lake Falls. Facilities:The campground offers two groups sites, each of which can accommodate up to 25 people. Getting There:GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude):39.41667, -120.59972 39°25'0"N, 120°35'59"W At the Bowman Lake Dam, the road continues along the north shore but becomes a primitive road not recommended for low-clearance vehicles. If you want to access the area above Bowman Lake with small trailers/RVs or low-clearance vehicles, roads from the east via Jackson Meadow Reservoir are somewhat better but still remote (see East Slope and Grouse Ridge Maps). To get to Jackson Meadows Reservoir, from Truckee, take Highway 89 north for 17 miles. Turn right (west) off Highway 89 at Little Donner Summit. Follow Jackson Lake Road (Forest Road 07) for 16 miles. The road to Faucherie Lake continues southeast from Jackson Creek Campground, but is not recommended for low clearance vehicles. Drive 3.7 miles south on rough road from Jackson Creek Campground. Fording the creek above the campground is not advisable for anyone during high water.
