Overview

Foley Creek Campground sits in the Hiawatha National Forest on the northern peninsula of Michigan.

The campground is shaded and quiet, offering a relaxing camping getaway, all within a short drive of nearby cities.

Natural Features:

Rolling hills forested with northern hardwoods, white pine and hemlock, flatland covered by red pine, jack pine and aspen, and large open and tree covered wetlands form the 879,000 acres of the Hiawatha National Forest.

The campground sits in a heavily wooded area of pine and hardwoods, with the sandy beach of Lake Huron only about a mile away.

Recreation:

The popular Horseshoe Bay Trail begins at the campground and winds through the 3,800-acre Horseshoe Bay Wilderness area, ending at the beautiful sandy beach at Lake Huron.

In addition to swimming and water activities at Lake Huron, visitors can experience various historical sites and other sightseeing in the area.

Facilities:

The campground offers multiple primitive campsites for tent and RV camping. Each site is equipped with tables and campfire rings with grills. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are also provided.

A parking area, accessible fishing pier and a boat ramp are located along the Mackinac Trail, near the campground. Though the Foley Creek runs alongside the campground, fishing is better at nearby Lake Huron.

Nearby Attractions:

The campground is six miles north of St. Ignace on the Mackinac Trail, also known as Highway 63. St. Ignace has a variety of activities including restaurants, golfing, shady beaches, shopping and ferry service to Mackinac Island.

From the Mackinac Bridge, continue north on Interstate 75 to exit 352. Turn right after one block and then right on the Mackinac Trail/Highway 63. Continue south about 2 miles to the campground on the east side of Mackinac Trail.
