ALL (1) OverviewFox Creek Cabin is a rustic cabin on the Eastern Kenai Peninsula of south-central Alaska. It is popular among trekkers as the access trail is relatively flat. The cabin provides abundant opportunities for big game hunting and is in a very scenic area of the Chugach National Forest.The facility can only be accessed by hiking, horseback riding, skiing or snowshoeing at least 11.5 miles or longer, depending on weather conditions. The trail is open to snowmobiles every other year. Visitors are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities. Natural Features:The cabin is north of Sterling Highway, about 25 yards from Fox Creek, away from the access trail. It is surrounded by a spruce and birch forest, with views of nearby mountains and meadows. A variety of wildlife makes its home in the area. Berries ripen mid-July through mid-September. Recreation:Hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing along Resurrection Pass Trail are popular activities. Active mining operations are on private claims on the creek, yet there are designated areas for the public to pan for gold along the trail. Facilities:The 14x17-ft log cabin can accommodate up to eight people, but sleeps four comfortably. It is equipped with wooden bunks, a table, benches and a wood stove for heat. A splitting maul and crosscut saw are available. An outhouse is provided outside the cabin. Activities and Amenities

Getting There:GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude):60.73194, -149.71 60°43'55"N, 149°42'36"W Follow Hope Highway from Seward Highway after arriving on the Kenai Peninsula. From the Resurrection Pass North Trailhead, at milepost 4 of Resurrection Creek Road, hike 11.5 miles to the cabin. From the Resurrection Pass South Trailhead, at milepost 53.2 on Sterling Highway, hike 27 miles to the cabin. Maps are available online or by calling the Seward Ranger District at (907) 224-3374. Winter travelers need to be able to evaluate avalanche and over-ice travel conditions. For more current travel conditions call the district office. The trail is closed to horse/pack stock from April 1 to June 30, and is open to over-snow motorized vehicles from Dec. 1 to April 30 every other winter season, beginning with the winter of 2007-2008. It is closed to motorized vehicles every other winter season beginning with the 2008-2009 winter season.
