ALL (0) OverviewFreedom Point is part of Sheepshead Mountain Recreation Area within Montana's Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. It provides a picturesque location for weddings, receptions, large family gatherings and group picnics.Natural Features:The area is situated in an expanse of grassy meadows and sagebrush, with several streams and a small lake, all surrounded by a dense lodgepole pine forest. Recreation:Freedom Point is known for its pleasant picnicking amenities for large groups. Hiking, fishing and simply enjoying nature are the most popular activities. A walkable wildlife trail provides access to Maney Lake, a small lake open to fishing. Motorized boats are not allowed on the lake. A variety of play areas, including volleyball courts, softball and baseball fields and a playground, are also available. Facilities:Freedom Point can accommodate up to 75 people. The accessible picnic shelter is equipped with picnic tables, grills and a large fireplace. Additional tables and grills are scattered outside the shelter. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Nearby Attractions:The city of Butte is about 19 miles from the picnic area, with a variety of services. Activities and Amenities

To make reservations, contact the Butte Ranger District by calling (406) 494-2147. Reservations cannot be made online. Getting There:GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude):46.14833, -112.46667 46°8'54"N, 112°28'0"W From Butte, take I-15 north about 13 miles to the Elk Park Exit. Turn right off the ramp and go under the overpass to Forest Road 442 and continue driving for 6 miles. The Sheepshead Recreation Area is on your right.
