Overview

Indian Valley Campground is located alongside the North Yuba River just off Highway 49, about 22 miles from Downieville. Visitors enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities in the area, including hiking, hunting, fishing, canoeing and gold panning.

Natural Features:

The campground sits on the north bank of the North Yuba River. Tumbled rock piles from early gold dredging activity are scattered around the campground. A forest of oak, fir, pine and madrone trees provides ample shade. Many sites have views of the river.

Recreation:

The North Yuba River offers swimming, wading and rainbow trout fishing. Seasonal rafting, kayaking and tubing are popular water activities.

A network of trails crisscrosses the surrounding area. The Yuba River Trail can be accessed nearby.

Facilities:

The campground offers several single- and double-family campsites. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided.

Know Before You Go
  • In accordance with standard industry practices, Tahoe Recreation will be assessing a $5 additional vehicle fee on the "second vehicle" in each single family campsite, and on the "third and fourth vehicle" in any double family campsite, provided these vehicles are not joined to the first vehicle by a hitch and towed onto the site. In the case of motorcycles, the first two are considered to be one vehicle and the third and fourth are also considered to be one vehicle. No additional vehicle fees are collected for bicycles.
  • Bears frequent the area; all food must be kept in approved containers
  • An additional $2 per day fee is charged for reservations during Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends
