LOST VALLEY PAVILION, ARStatus: Open through Thu Nov 14 2013 Season Dates 1 site(s) found
ALL (1) OverviewTucked in the Buffalo National River valley is a group pavilion that fits 25 people. It's set in a peaceful, wooded area surrounded by plenty of hiking trails. Keep Lost Valley in mind for fun gatherings of friends, family, or coworkers.Natural Features:A short drive away is the clean and free-flowing Buffalo National River, which passes through bluffs and wilderness areas dominated by vast hardwood forests. Recreation:Picnicking and hiking are two of the top activities at Lost Valley. The facility offers a memorable hike along Clark Creek to photogenic waterfalls and caves. Clark Creek is dry part of the year, but the hike is still worth exploring. Facilities:The pavilion consists of a covered picnic shelter next to a large field surrounded by woods. Guests should bring their own grill and extra chairs if they plan to sit outside in the sun. Flush toilets are available March through mid-November, and pit toilets are on hand during winter months. Nearby Attractions:Head to Boxley Valley for the best place to view elk. Elk numbers have dwindled over the past two centuries, but Buffalo National River is an area where they have been reintroduced and are flourishing. Wildlife watchers have the best chance to see them in September and October at sunrise or sunset. Participate in rafting and kayaking on the river, or visit Rush ghost town to see the remains of a zinc-mining community that once flourished in these parts. Activities and Amenities
