NORTH ABUTMENT (MS), GRENADA LAKE, MSDescriptionNorth Abutment Campground is located approximately 5 miles from the City of Grenada at the north end of Grenada Dam. The campground is on the north shore of Grenada Lake and many campsites are near the water from May through August. Grenada Lake is a flood control reservoir and the water level is dropped during the winter for spring water storage. The shoreline could be as far as one mile from the campground during the winter months.Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important InformationNorth Abutment campground is open year round. Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. 1. Camping at one or more campsites at Grenada Lake for a period longer than 14 days during any 30-consecutive day period is prohibited without the written permission of the District Engineer (or his designee). 2. The 30 day camping period starts upon the initial day of entrance in the campground. 3. An additional 14 days of camping may be requested by submitting a completed CELMK Form 2209 â Request for Extension for Camping Stay. This form can be obtained at the Grenada Lake Field Office or from a Park Ranger. All requests for extension must be approved by the Lake Manager at least two days before the final day of camping. Approval of an extension is based upon the compliance with Title 36 Rules and Regulations, project policies, and state/local laws. Receipt of a written warning or citation will result in an automatic denial of extension. 4. At the completion of the original 14 days, plus the 14 day extension (total 28 days), the camper will be removed from the campground for a minimum of two nights. 5. The placing of personal items on a site, such as satellite antennas, vehicles, coolers, tents, chairs, etc. to reserve a site is prohibited. Any such items found will be removed and taken to the Grenada Lake Field Office. 6. The campground check-out time is 12:00 noon and the check-in time is 2:00 p.m. 7. All campsites must be occupied by registered visitors at some point during each 24 hour period. 8. National Recreation Reservation System (NRRS - ReserveUSA.com) â General rules governing camping are provided on the web at reserveUSA.com. If determined that the NRRS has been utilized in a manner that violates campground policy (such as using two different names to make back-to-back reservations to exceed the established camping stay limits), appropriate corrective actions will be taken. Corrective actions will require that camping equipment be removed from the area immediately, cancellation of the reservation through NRRS without refund, and potential issuance of a citation. Follow Scenic Loop 333 across the dam and take the second road to the right at the North end of the Dam.. Go past the primitive campground to the class A campground.
