Overview

Robert W. Craig Campground overlooks Jennings Randolph Lake, providing a beautiful backdrop for fishing, water skiing and exploring the eight miles of nature trails.

A few bald eagles have been known to breed at Jennings Randolph Lake. Bring binoculars for the lucky chance to spot an eagle's nest.

Natural Features:

The lake spans 952 acres in the rugged hills of West Virginia's Allegheny Mountains.

The campground overlooks the lake, which is 600 feet below.

Recreation:

At the campground, hang out on the beach or shoot some hoops on the basketball court. Birders will love the Songbird Trail and the High Timber Trail provides 28 varieties of labeled tree species.

Hiking trails can be accessed from the campground.

Facilities:

The majority of sites have electric hookups. Amenities include hot showers, a pay phone and a dump station. Horseshoe pits, a playground and a general store with ice and basic food items are at the campground. Big groups can make use of the 80-capacity group picnic shelter.

The terrain is too steep to access the boat ramp from the campground.

Nearby Attractions:

A short mile away from the campground is the North Branch of the Potomac River, renowned as one of the finest trout fisheries on the East Coast.

The river is also an excellent location for whitewater rafting.

The city of Cumberland, with pleasant cobblestone pedestrian streets and boutique shops, makes for a nice visit.

  • There is a 2 vehicle limit per site
  • Entrance gates are locked from 10 p.m. - 8 a.m. Please call the park entrance station at (304) 355-8000 for the gate combination if arriving late.
  • There is a two camping unit limit per site.
  • There is an 8 person limit per site.

From Cumberland, MD, take US 220 south to US 50W, go west to WV 42N, go north to WV 46E. Follow the signs to the campground.
