SUTTON LAKE PICNIC SHELTER (WV), SUTTON LAKE, WV

Description

Sutton Lake has 5 picnic shelters, two set along the Elk River just below the Dam, and three overlooking the lake. Each has six to eight picnic tables and a large charcoal grill. The Day Use Areas, where the shelters are located, have numerous other attractions, to make your picnic a grand success.

Shelters 1 and 2 are in the Downstream Area. They overlook the Elk River and are ADA accessible. Water and electricity are available at each shelter. A new playground, ADA compliant restroom facility, large parking lots, and Fishermans Walkway meet the needs of most picnickers, young and old.

Shelter 3 overlooks Sutton Lake in the South Abutment Day Use Area. It is just upstream from the Sutton Dam. Visitors in this area enjoy the lakeside fishing pier, small beach, and launch ramp facilities.

Shelters 4 and 5 also overlook Sutton Lake, from the Bee Run Day Use Area. Water and electricity are available at each shelter. This large area includes a large beach, playground, marina facility, ample parking, and restroom facilities.

Shelters 1, 2 and 3 are located at the Sutton Dam. From, I-79, take Exit 62 Sutton/Gassaway. Turn left on SR 4, approximately 2 miles into Sutton. Turn right at the Stop sign, cross the Elk River, and Turn Left to the Dam.

Shelters 4 and 5 are located in the Bee Run Day Use Area. From I-79, take Exit 67 Flatwoods. Turn right (south) on SR 4. Go 1 mile to SR 15 and turn Left. Go 1 miles to Bee Run Day Use Area and turn Right.
