For the outdoor enthusiast, the Rio Grande National Forest has recreation and adventure opportunities for the heartiest of souls, or enjoy the backcountry from the Cumbres & Toltec Narrow Gauge Railroad which runs from Antonio, Colorado across the Forest to Chama, New Mexico. Whether walking, driving or riding, the Rio Grande has something for everyone. Visitors can enjoy easy access to hiking, mountain biking, road biking, camping, picnicking, four-wheel driving, motorcycling and horseback riding. Recreation opportunities dont diminish during the winter season. Many visitors enjoy downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and backcountry touring.
