VENANGO PARK (KS), KANOPOLIS LAKE, KS

Description

Located on the Smoky Hill River in central Kansas approximately 30 miles southwest of Salina. Kanopolis Lake is one of the oldest lakes in Kansas surrounded be vast open prairie. The area offers many recreational opportunities as well as fishing and hunting. A variety of game animals such as pheasant, quail, prairie chicken, whitetail deer, turkey, waterfowl, rabbit and squirrel can be found here.

Venango campground offers 216 campsites, 56 with electric hookups. Other amenities include a dump station, shower building, boat ramp, beach, playground, primitive group camp area with shelter house, picnic shelters, ATV area and nature trail. 78 Sites with electricity, 32 of the 78 electric sites have water.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. This campground requires a 2 day minimum stay on weekends. This campground requires a 3 day minimum stay on holiday weekends. The campground is open with full facilities May 1 - September 30 and sites are $12.00 - $18.00 per night. An attendant is on duty during this time. The entrance gates close and lock nightly at 10:00 pm and open at 6:00 am. There is a $4.00 per night utility fee at sites with electrical hookups October 1 through April 30.

Maximum camping units per campsite: 1 wheeled camping unit and 2 tents OR 3 tents only.
