ALL (1) OverviewWapiti Cabin is a rustic log structure open year-round for recreational enjoyment. It provides access to several trails for hiking and biking in the summer, and skiing and snowmobiling in the winter.The cabin can be accessed by vehicle in warmer weather, but snowy conditions may require a 1.5- to 5-mile trek on skis, snowshoes or snowmobile, via access trails from the plowed road. Guests should call ahead to the Hebgen Lake Ranger District in the spring and fall to get information on road conditions. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities. Natural Features:Wapiti Cabin is situated on hilltop meadow in the Madison Range at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Beyond the meadow, guests at the cabin can see dense stands of evergreens and rugged mountain ridges. Wapiti Creek flows nearby. Recreation:The junction of Taylor Fork Road and Wapiti Creek offers several trailheads leading into the Cabin Creek Recreation and Wildlife Management Area. Mountain bikers will find several route options in the Wapiti Loops in Taylor Fork, including a 14-mile route that begins at the cabin. Facilities:The cabin has cots to sleep up to four people. A wood stove is available for heat. Basic cookware, dishes, an axe, shovel, broom, mop and table with chairs are also provided. Activities and Amenities

Getting There:GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude):45.04, -111.28583 45°2'24"N, 111°17'9"W For summer access from West Yellowstone, proceed north on Highway 191 for approximately 33.5 miles. Turn left on Taylor Fork Road/Forest Service Road 134 and proceed approximately 3.5 miles. Turn left on Forest Service Road 2522 and proceed approximately 1.5 miles. The cabin is located on the right side of the road. For inter access from West Yellowstone, proceed north on U.S. Highway 191 for approximately 33.5 miles. Turn left on Taylor Fork Road/Forest Service Road 134. If Forest Service Road 134 is plowed, proceed approximately 3.5 miles and turn left into the parking area at the junction of Forest Service Road 134 and Forest Service Road 2522. From the parking area, ski or snowmobile approximately 1.5 miles to the cabin on the Big Sky Snowmobile Trail 914. If Forest Service Road 134 is not passable due to snow, park at the Sage Creek Trailhead just south of where the Taylor Fork Road/Forest Service Road 134 intersects U.S. Highway 191 and ski or snowmobile approximately 3.5 miles west. Turn left on the Big Sky Snowmobile Trail 914 and proceed approximately 1.5 miles to the cabin.
