ALL (1) OverviewWhisky Camp, built in the 1940s, was the summer home of a fireguard whose primary duties were firefighter, relief lookout, phone line and trail maintenance and fire prevention.Located in the Tiller Ranger District in southwestern Oregon, the cabin now offers relaxation and recreation for visitors throughout the year. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for travel to this site, and guests must bring several of their own amenities. Natural Features:At an elevation of 3,800 feet, this squat, red-planked, cedar-roofed cabin is tucked beneath a dense forest of cedar, pine and fir trees. Nicely shaded and secluded, an occasional brilliant shaft of sunlight breaks through the canopy. Recreation:The Bunchgrass, Elkhorn and Beaver Creek trails leave from Whisky Camp for hiking or horseback riding. Additional activities include mountain biking, birding, wildlife viewing and photography. In the winter guests enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Facilities:This two-room cabin is equipped with one double bed and two single beds with foam pad mattresses. Amenities inside the cabin include a heater, a lantern, a cooking stove with oven and a refrigerator, all powered by propane, which is provided. Outdoors, a picnic table, campfire ring, grill and vault toilet are provided. An area for pitching a tent is also on-site. Nearby Attractions:Visitors may want to take some time to visit nearby Crater Lake National Park for a glimpse into the area's fascinating geological and cultural history. Activities and Amenities

Getting There:GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude):42.9125, -122.73444 42°54'45"N, 122°44'4"W Whisky Camp Guard Station is at 3,800 feet elevation and does receive snow. The roads to the cabin are not plowed. Guests may have to snowshoe, cross-country ski or snowmobile up to 5 miles to reach the cabin in winter. A four wheel drive vehicle is recommended in the winter months. Please call the Tiller Ranger District at 541-825-3100 for current conditions. Click here for current local weather conditions. Entry to the cabin is by combination number, provided in confirmation letter. The combination lock on the door has five black vertical buttons. The top button is number one and the bottom button is number five. Please call the Tiller Ranger District at (541) 825-3100 at least four days prior to your arrival at the cabin to confirm the combination. From Interstate 5 take exit 98 at Canyonville and travel 26 miles east on Highway 1 to Tiller. At Tiller take County Road 46, South Umpqua Road, for 5 miles to Jackson Creek Road 29. Travel for 9.7 miles to Forest Service Road (FSR) 2925, then continue 6.5 miles to the five-way junction. Take FSR 3114-600 for 1.5 miles to FSR 3114-645. FSR 3114-645 has a locked gate.
