Bow River Ranger Station is a house built in the 1960s for the forest ranger that worked on the northern portion of the Snowy Range.

The house is all electric with one full bath with two showers, a 1/2 bath, large kitchen, small living room, two bedrooms with two bunk beds in each, a vault toilet outside and fire ring in back yard. The facility is handicap accessible. Cell phone coverage is fair. The kitchen has basic pots, pans, dishes and silverware. Guests are expected to clean the facility before leaving. No trash service; this is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility. Sleeps eight.

Medicine Bow River, Turpin Reservoir, Sand Lake and Bow River Campground are all nearby.

The Upper Medicine Bow River flows past the back yard and provides fishing and wildlife viewing.

Driving Directions

From Interstate 80; exit 255 to Elk Mountain, WY. Exit on Carbon County Road 101 for approximately 13 miles. This is a maintained gravel road. At national forest boundary, continue southward to the Bow River Ranger Station, visible on the right side of the road.
