Curecanti National Recreation Area
Cimarron Campground is located 20 miles (32 km) east of Montrose, CO on U.S. Highway 50 at the site of Cimarron, a historic narrow gauge railroad town . The campground accomodates all types of camping--from tents to medium sized RVs. All sites are first-come first-served, and the campground rarely fills. Railroad exhibits are adjacent to the campground, and Crystal Reservoir near Morrow Point Dam is approximately 1.5 miles away (2.4 km). Elevation: 6895 feet (2101 m)
Seasonal potable water, flush toilets, dump station and trash/recycling collection provided. Picnic tables, fire grates and fire rings in every camp site.
Notifications and Alerts
The Middle Bridge on HWY 50 near Dillon Pinnacles in Curecanti National Recreation Area has been closed for emergency maintenance. The emergency closure is in place between US 50 Mile Point 131 (intersection with Colorado Highway 92) and MP 138. Through-traffic between Montrose and Gunnison on HWY 50 is not possible during the closure. An alternate route is required at this time.

STOP THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE SPECIES . Remove plants, seeds, animals, and mud from boots, gear, pets, and vehicles. Clean your gear before entering and leaving the recreation site. Stay on designated roads and trails, and follow local guidelines for firewood . CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY boats and any other recreational equipment that contacts water.
