R Shaefer Heard Day Use

West Point Lake

R Shaefer Heard Day Use Park, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is located on the southern end of West Point Lake, near R. Shaefer Heard Campground. This park offers a variety of recreational opportunities such as hiking/biking trails, boat launching, picnic sites and good access for bank fishing. 

R Shaefer Heard Day Use offers two group shelters with two tables, grill, and restrooms each.

R Shaefer Heard Day Use is located on the shoreline of West Point Lake which extends 35 miles along the Chattahoochee River on the Alabama-Georgia state line and has 525 miles of shoreline.

Recreation

R Shaefer Heard Day Use is located near the shoreline of West Point Lake with easy access for bank fishing and a boat ramp for access to the lake. 

Changes & Cancellations

Cancellations must be made 14 days prior to the reservation date in order to receive a refund. No refunds will be issued after the date of the reservation. Reservations will not be refunded due to weather related issues.

Driving Directions

From West Point, Georgia, take U.S. Highway 29 north for 4 miles, then turn left The West Point Project sign and then travel a short distance to a right turn, into the Day Use Area.
