Need to Know

• Primitive zone campers can camp anywhere on the Island except within 0.25 miles from other campers, buildings or historic structures, flowing streams, and trails. Primitive camping zones provide opportunities for campers seeking a remote backcountry experience without any facilities. Parties are limited to a maximum of five campers and two tents. Primitive zone campers will need to use a backpacking stove for cooking. Campfires can only be built on a sand beach near the water’s edge below where vegetation grows and also 150 feet of sites where fire receptacles are provided.
