FLAMINGO (FL), Everglades National Park, FL

Description

The Flamingo Campground, 38 miles south of the main entrance of Everglades National Park, sits at the tip of the Florida peninsula and lies along pristine Florida Bay. It is truly a place lost in time. At the end-of -the road you can enjoy solitude, canoeing/kayaking, birdwatching, photography, ranger-guided programs (in winter) and more while camping in a subtropical climate. Currently there are no hotels or restaurants available in Flamingo.

The campground has 234 drive-in sites, 64 walk-to sites and is open year round.

Ninety of these sites can be reserved in advance. The remaining 208 sites are available on a first come-first served basis. Group sites are available by reservation only.

  • Picnic tables and grills
  • Handicap accessible sites
  • RV section with 65 pull through sites that accommodate RV's over 45 feet long and trailers over 22'
  • Group sites (by reservation only)
  • Amphitheatre (evening ranger programs provided in winter)

    *Pets are welcome on leashes throughout the Flamingo area but not allowed on hiking trails.

  • Entrance fee to park is $10 per vehicle (valid 7 days)
  • Campsites are $16 per night
  • Collecting dead and down wood is allowed
  • There are NO electric hook-ups available
  • The use of motorized generators may not be operated between the hours of 8pm and 8am from October through May.
  • Park Rangers staff the campground from late November to mid April. During this time late arrivals should call (239) 695-0124 between the hours of 8am and 5pm. If you have reservations, instructions for camping will be posted on the Campground Kiosk. All other campers should check in at the Kiosk.
  • From mid April through late November the campground is by self-registration. Reservations are not necessary at this time. Mosquitos can be particularly bothersome during the summer months. Fees are not charged from June through August. Be prepared for mosquitos at all times of the year.

    From us 1: the main park entrance is twelve miles southwest of homestead/florida city. Follow state road 9336 to the park entrance. Flamingo campground is thirty eight miles southwest of the main park entrance.
