Enchantment Permit Area, Alpine Lakes Wilderness, WATransaction Fee:A $6.00 non-refundable Application Fee is required for each Lottery Application or Permit reservation. Application Fees are used to finance the on-line reservation system.Use Fees:A $5.00 per person per day user fee is charged for your group when reserving an Overnight Permit for entry from June 15th to October 15th each year. Fees are charged per day, not per night, so the minimum visit is 2 days. Use fees are utilized to finance the on-the-ground management of the Enchantment Permit area. Lottery:The lottery-based Enchantment Area Permit system has been in place for over twenty years to prevent overcrowding and manage the impact of many visitors. Overnight use is limited to daily quotas for each entry date and zone. The permit reservation process starts each year when lottery applications for permit reservations may be submitted via Recreation.gov from around the middle of February to around the beginning of March (check the website for exact dates of lottery). A smaller number of additional permits are available on a walk-in basis from the Ranger Station daily except Sunday when the Ranger Station is closed. Since demand for these walk-in permits also usually exceeds availability, a daily lottery is also held at 7:45 am daily except Sunday, to distribute these permits.Changes and Cancellations Policy:Cancellations:Once confirmed, awarded trips may be cancelled with a refund of the permit fee but with a Cancellation Fee of $10.00 up to 22 days before the trip. There is no refund of the permit fee if the trip is cancelled within 21 days of the trip start date. If you are unable to use your permit, please take the time to cancel your reservation through Recreation.Gov or the NRRS reservation line, even when a refund is not due, so that another group will have a chance to book a permit.Cancellations to a reservation can be made via Recreation.gov or by calling the NRRS reservation line at 1-877-444-6777 Changes:Changes to a reservation can be made via Recreation.gov or by calling the NRRS reservation line at 1-877-444-6777 as needed.
