Description
Ocracoke Campgrounds are only accessible by ferry or aircraft transportation. Ferry reservations may be required from May 1 thru September 30. Facilities such as restaurants, grocery, stores, service station, etc are located in Ocracoke Village. Please note that the camping area includes cold water showers, no shade, and sandy soil which requires extra long tent stakes. Additionally, there is a beach located right over the dunes from the campground.

Alerts and Important Information
- The campground is open yearly-
first Friday in April at noon and closes last Monday
at noon in October.

- Specific sites may not be pre-reserved; Sites are assigned upon arrival on a first come first serve basis.
- Pets must be leashed
- Bring own firewood. Pedestal grills are available for cooking fires only, ground fires are not permitted in the campground.
- Water and electric hookups are not available, potable water available in each section of the campground.
- No firearms or fireworks
- Upon arrival check in at the campground kiosk. If noone is available please check in by 8am the following morning.
- The beach is located right over the dunes from the campground.
- Due to ferry operations at the Hatteras ferry there maybe longer delays in getting to the island during the summer. Try to arrive early in morning or late afternoon. Heaviest traffic will be midday.
- No entrance fees.
- Altitude 4 feet.
- Generator hours are 6am-10pm.

- All vehicles on pavement including trailers and boat trailers.
- Two vehicles per site - 2 cars or 1 car and 1 trailer or 1 car and 1 RV.
- 6 people and 2 tents allowed per campsite.
- Insect spray is recommended-mosquitos are common
- Interagency Senior or Access pass numbers must be provided when making reservations. Be prepared to present pass and picture ID at check-in. Discounts cannot be processed after the reservation has been made.
