Yellowstone National Park offers a variety of terrain on groomed trails and endless backcountry opportunities for cross-country skiers. The key to a wonderful experience is to be prepared, identify the difficulty of the terrain you want to ski and then pick a trail among five major cross-country ski trails in the park. If backcountry is your preference, it is important to know the terrain well and be prepared for quickly changing weather conditions; Yellowstone can experience temperatures as low as 40 degrees below zero.
