-Superior National Forest Headquarters, MN

US Forest Service

Overview

The Superior National Forest Headquarters Building is located in Duluth, MN, and houses the offices of our Forest Supervisor, Brenda Halter, and the team leaders for the Forest.   In the spirit of recycling, the building itself is a repurposed school originally built in the earlier part of the 1900's.  In refurbishing the building, original floors and oak woodwork were saved, and some offices even retain the blackboards.  Even though this office is away from the Forest itself, there are some outdoor urban activities right at our back door.  We are at the base of a wooded slope that leads up to the Superior Hiking Trail.  The St. Louis  River is blocks away.  This office issues permits for the BWCAW and sells America the Beautiful Senior Passes, Access Passes, Annual Passes, as well as supplying information about the entire Forest to visitors.
