Southeast Alaska Discovery Center, AK

Overview

If you could learn about the Inside Passage, the Tongass National Forest, Native cultures, Alaska history and wildlife all in one place, it would be at the Discovery Center. And it doesn't stop there. Going anywhere else in Alaska? Learn how to get there and what to see. Here's what you'll find here: Modern, accessible visitor center (nominal entry fee in summer, federal recreation passes accepted); hourly film on the Tongass National Forest; diorama-style exhibit rooms on Native traditions, the temperate rainforest, and forest resources; children's activities; bookstore with local art, maps, toys and books;; trip planning information for all public lands in Alaska; and information on Forest Service cabins, campgrounds and trails. Open every day in summer from 8:30 am * 5:00 pm, with more limited hours during the off-season. Recreation Activities: Interpretive Programs Visitor Center
