Overview

Avondale is a wonderful destination for recreationists looking a little boating on their day trip. Here, visitors can bring their family and friends for water sports and plenty of sunshine.

The picnic area is on the shores of Old Hickory Lake, just a short drive from Nashville, Tennessee. The lake is named after Andrew Jackson, the 7th U.S. President and Tennessee native with the nickname "Old Hickory."

Directions:

N of Nashville on I-65, exit at Vietnam Veterans Blvd E and follow it until it rejoins Gallatin Road (Highway 31E), turn right onto Shute Lane from Gallatin Road, turn right again onto Avondale Access Road. Follow signs into recreation area.
