Deadwood Reservoir is formed by Deadwood Dam which is part of the Boise Project. Recreation on this 4.5 square mile (3,000-acre) reservoir with 21 miles of shoreline is managed by the Boise National Forest,. Hiking, boating, camping, and fishing are the major recreation activities at Deadwood Reservoir, located high in the mountains northwest of Boise. Available species include Atlantic, Chinook, and kokanee salmon, and rainbow and cutthroat trout. The Idaho state record Atlantic salmon (13 lb. & 4 oz., 29 3/4 inches) was taken in 1995 from Deadwood reservoir. Season open year-round but access limited to isolated in winter. Reservoir acre feet and total reservoir capacity and cubic feet/second release rates for rivers below Boise & Payette River Basins reservoirs and select river locations are updated daily and graphically provided. Site offers: restroom, boat ramp, campground, and swimming.
