Muddy Mountain Recreation Area and Education Center, WY

Overview

The 1,260-acre Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area (EEA) is a popular recreation area south of Casper. There is a two-mile interpretive nature trail that connects the Lodgepole and Rim campgrounds with 28 interpretive signs and is handicap accessible. Two overlooks located on the trail provide a unique view of the valley below. Several vault toilets are located throughtout the area. Some trails are for hikers only while others offer motorized use. Opportunities for watching wildlife are favorable as forest, sagebrush, and grasslands provide habitat for blue grouse and fox, as well as deer, antelope and elk. Fees are charged at the campgrounds.

From Casper, drive south approx 9 miles on State Hwy 251 to where County Road 505 begins. Continuefor approx 3 miles, Follow this road for 3 miles to its intersection with Circle Drive. from here it is 4 more miles to the site.
