Hells Canyon National Recreation AreaDescriptionHells Canyon was designated a national recreation area in 1975. The 652,500 acre canyon has a maximum depth of 7,900 ft making it the deepest gorge in North America.
Major attractions are the Snake River with jet boats and float craft permitted, 3 Wild and Scenic Rivers, Hells Canyon All American Scenic Byway, National Trails, and the Hells Canyon Wilderness.
