Overview

Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery was established in 1938. The 137 acre facility can be found along the Colorado River in Texas between Inks Lake and Lake Lyndon B. Johnson. The current programs at the hatchery consist of providing channel catfish for tribal fishery management programs and to fulfill tribal trust responsibilities, maintaining a refugia for the Federally endangered Clear Creek gambusia, and advancing freshwater mollusk culture. In addition to these programs, the facility continues its long-term cooperative agreement with Fort Hood to increase recreational fishing opportunities on the base.
