Overview

Hotel La Rose, built in 1907 and a member of Historic Hotels of America® since 1997 was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation® for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America.

In 1907, Italian stonemasons, using locally quarried stone, built the four-story Hotel La Rose. Each guestroom is individually decorated in turn-of-the-20th-century style; the corridors are lined with the original wainscoting, and the staircase from the San Francisco Cable Car Barn enhances the lobby. The original building has elevator access to all four stories, which house 29 non-smoking guestrooms. The Carriage House, constructed in 1984, has 19 additional guestrooms built around a rose garden courtyard, each with a private patio or balcony. Hotel La Rose is located in historic Railroad Square, an area that bustled with train activity in the late 19th century but is now a colorful shopping and dining district.
