From Prineville, Oregon:  

At the junction of US Hwy 26 and State Hwy. 27 (Main St.), go south on State Hwy. 27 for 6.8 miles to extreme narrowing of the canyon and start of viewing route.

Continue southeast on State Hwy. 27 for 6.6 miles to Castle Rock Campground, for another 3.1 miles to Chimney Rock Campground, and for another 3.1 miles to Bowman Dam at Prineville Reservoir outlet.

 Total Distance: 30 miles.  Estimated Time: 30 minutes
