From I-5, take exit 685 Shasta Dam Boulevard. At stoplight at end of off ramp turn right and continue along Shasta Dam Boulevard for about four and a half miles to a four way stop intersection. Turn right and continue about 1.5 miles to Shasta Dam. Cross Shasta Dam and continue to the left down hill along paved road about 1.5 miles to stop sign at bottom of hill. The staging area is on the right. You will need to apply for an access pass from the Bureau of Reclamation to cross the dam due to Homeland Security regulations. This process takes about a week.
