Drive east from Baily, Colorado on U.S. Hwy 285 to Pine Junction. Turn right (south) onto Jefferson County Road #126 leading to Pine and Buffalo Creek. Drive on Hwy #126 for 21.9 miles (from Pine Junction) to reach the trailhead. The road is paved all the way. There is a small parking area on the north side of the road. The trailhead is on the south side of the road. If parking is full, you can park at Wigwam Campground, 1/3 of a mile west. If you are driving west from Deckers, the trailhead is 2.5 miles from the bridge at Deckers. A sign is posted along the road at the trailhead.
