Access to Timpanogos Cave is by hiking only. The paved trail to the cave is a strenuous 1.5 miles one way with an elevation gain of approximately 1,100 vertical feet. After completing the hike, visitors will experience all three caves while walking on a paved, lighted route with a park ranger. Touring the cool, wet caves requires some bending, crouching and stairs. The caves are 45°F, 7°C. It is very common for these tours to sell out daily during the summer season.

The ranger-led, 1.5 hour Introduction to Caving tour introduces visitors to caving. With a helmet and headlamp you are ready to experience Hansen Cave in its natural state. You'll scramble and sometimes even crawl on the trail leading to Hansen Cave Lake along the same route Martin Hansen conducted tours in the late 1800's while you learn all about caving safety and low-impact caving skills. This tour requires bending, climbing and is considered strenuous. Be prepared to get your clothes dirty and have fun!
The tour is limited to 5 people, age 14 and older, and requires advanced tickets.
