Walk down the interior staircase of the Washington Monument (close to 900 steps) to see a new side of the world's tallest freestanding stone structure. This is a physically challenging tour due to the nearly 50-story descent. Starting from the top of the Monument, you will step down through its layers of history and examine the staircase walls adorned with nearly 200 commemorative stones donated to the memory of the first President.
