Santiam Flats Campground
Willamette National Forest
Santiam Flats Campground provides 32 campsites, 27 single and 5 double, that can accommodate trailers up to 30 feet in length. There are both reservable and FCFS campsites. All sites are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Water is provided via individual faucet risers located throughout the campground. There are three single-vault toilets located in accessible locations throughout the campground. Trash receptacles are available in the campground.
This is a Scan and Pay campground. There are no refunds, modifications, cancellations, or other fee changes allowed with Scan and Pay payments. This system is the same as putting cash into a fee tube and cannot be refunded.
Reservations for this site can be made up to 6 months in advance of arrival date by reserving online at RECREATION.GOV or by calling 877-444-6777.
Sites have picnic tables, grills and easy access to the vault toilets. Drinking water spigots are spread throughout the campground. Most campsites offer views of the lake.
Santiam Flats does not have a boat launch ramp. Some of the sites are adjacent to the shoreline and mooring is allowed.

Need to Know
- Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination. - There are no electric hookups available
- Off-road vehicles are not permitted
- First-come, first-served sites may be available
- Limit 1 vehicle per site; an $8 fee will be charged for additional vehicles
- You must stay in the campsite that you reserved. Site swapping is not allowed.
- No discharging firearms, possession of fireworks or use of chainsaws allowed
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from the area after eating
Natural Features
The campground lies in the Willamette National Forest, which stretches for 110 miles along the western slopes of the Cascade Range. The varied landscape of high mountains, narrow canyons, cascading streams and wooded slopes offer varied recreational opportunities for visitors.
Nearby Attractions
Detroit Lake provides plenty of opportunity for water recreation like boating, water skiing and kayaking.
Recreation
Sailing, boating, water skiing and fishing are all excellent options for enjoying Detroit Lake. Catfish, rainbow trout and Kokanee salmon are among the most common species found in the lake.
Several hiking trails dot the area, including Stahlman Point Trail, which offers beautiful vistas of Detroit Lake and the surrounding area. The Hoover Nature Trail is an accessible, short footpath that delights many campers.
The Willamette National Forest has about 1,700 miles of trail. While many are in wilderness areas, a number of trails are low-elevation, easy-access trails for year-round hiking.

Driving Directions
Travel 2.6 miles northeast of Detroit, Oregon. From Detroit, follow Highway 22 east for 2.6 miles to Blowout Road/Forest Service Road 10 on the right. Santiam Flats Campground in on the right.
