Whiskeytown National Recreation Area
National Park Service employees and contractors have taken down thousands of hazard trees created by the Carr Fire and snowstorms. These trees have been stacked into log decks at easily accessible locations in the park and will be available to the public as an inexpensive source of firewood. The majority of the wood is from ponderosa, gray and knobcone pine, but there will be oak available at some locations as well.
Only down trees in designated log decks may be taken. Please review the map of legal firewood collection sites at https://www.nps.gov/whis/planyourvisit/firewood-permits.htm
