About the Forest

This pass offers unique recreational opportunities and miles of recreational trails for all ages and experience levels for mountain bikers, hikers, motorcyclists, backpackers, hunters, anglers, bird watchers, and more.

The Echo Ridge Recreation Area Trail System on the Chelan Ranger District contains over 26 miles of trails intertwined with roads. Hiking and mountain biking are popular activities spring through fall. There are wide, easy trails suitable for all ages and highly technical single track trails for the more adventurous. You will travel over open ridgetops through a young, emerging forest recovering from a 1968 wildfire. Expect to see stunning views of Lake Chelan, the Cascade Mountains, Okanogan Highlands, and Columbia Plateau. Trail difficulty varies from 'easy' to 'most difficult,' and most trails are suitable for children.

The Entiat Ranger District is a uniquely tapered slice of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest located on the arid eastern flank of the Cascade Mountains. The landscape is dominated by wildfire ecology and many areas of the Entiat Ranger District offer excellent examples of post-wildfire forest restoration. High-quality recreation opportunities of all types exists on the District. Hiking trails provide access to lightly traveled and relatively undeveloped zones excellent for hiking and fishing. The Entiat Ranger District is also home to one of the Nation's most extensive multiple-use trail systems. This system passes along lush alpine meadows, contains pristine mountain lakes, and climbs to lofty summits with breathtaking views of the wild North Cascade Range. Much of this trail system can be explored by off-road motorcycles, mountain bikes, horses, and hiking.

Trailheads vary in elevation from 2,500ft to over 5,000ft so access dates vary. However, most trailheads are open from late-May through mid-October. Trail maintenance efforts are ongoing throughout the summer field season, so it is recommended that visitors seek trail condition information before visiting.
