Located in central California's Yosemite Valley, Camp 4 campground is one of the most popular campgrounds in Yosemite National Park, especially among the rock climbing community – it’s even listed on the National Register for Historic Places for its significant role in the development of rock climbing as a sport.
Beginning May 21, 2019, Camp 4 will pilot a daily lottery for campground reservations in an effort to maintain the feel of a first-come, first-served campground without requiring visitors to wait all day hoping for a place to camp.
World-renowned climbing history and convenient access to all that Yosemite Valley has to offer
Camp 4 is adjacent to some of the most visually spectacular, challenging and exciting climbing areas in the world. These days, climbers and adventurers as well as families enjoy this high-demand campground, where campers share campsites in order to accommodate the maximum number of people within the limited number of campsites.
Camp 4 is a tent-only campground and vehicles with a reservation must park in the lot adjacent to the campground (approximately 100-300 yards away). Each site has picnic tables, food storage lockers and fire rings that are shared by all occupants of that campsite. Restrooms and drinking water are located in the center of the campground.
Nearby Camp 4, Yosemite Falls, Sentinel Meadow, the Merced River, and views of Half Dome attract visitors from around the world, with amenities and services found further into the valley at Yosemite Village.

Camp 4 reservations will be issued through a one day in advance lottery starting May 21st through September 15th. The lottery will open each day from 12:01 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time for arrivals checking in the following day.
Whether you’re successful or not in securing a reservation at Camp 4, Recreation.gov will notify you later in the afternoon after the lottery closes at 4 p.m. PT. If you do secure a reservation, your arrival date will be for the day after you applied to the lottery.
During the off-peak season, which runs mid-September through mid-May, Camp 4 will return to first-come, first-served status.
