Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building that now constitutes the Distrikt Hotel Pittsburgh, Curio Collection by Hilton, originally served as the headquarters for the Salvation Army’s Western Pennsylvania Division. Built in 1924, the hotel has undergone significant renovations designed to embrace the history of the building while providing guests modern, convenient amenities to enjoy. The lobby is located in the original tower and was once the chapel. The original stage is intact and a favorite place for guests to enjoy the living wall and socialize with friends. The bottom row of wood paneling above is original, and was the old gallery seating. The top two rows are mirrored to create the extended lounge area. Care was taken to reflect the culture and history of Pittsburgh throughout the hotel. From custom rugs to steel maps, the décor pays homage to the great city of Pittsburgh and the surrounding neighborhoods.
