Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your program start time to allow for parking and checking your party in with the ranger.
At 3.2 miles long this trail traverses’ field and forest on the way to a rock outcrop (Long Point) with panoramic views of the gorge and New River Gorge Bridge. Most of this trail lazily descends through the forest, but it does include one steep section just before you arrive at the point. This trail is rated as Moderate.
Participants should be prepared for exposure to sun and insects.
Bring as much water and snacks as you feel necessary.
Hiking poles are permitted on all trails.
Leashed pets are allowed on hiking trails. Leash may not be longer than 6 feet. Owners are responsible for controlling and cleaning up after their pet.
This trail is not recommended for visitors under 5 years of age. Parents or guardians should be prepared to either turn back or carry younger children should they become tired.
