Need to Know
- Navigation
Do not rely exclusively on your mobile GPS, Google Maps, or similar automated navigation systems to get to trailhead. Instead use the following GPS coordinates: 37.83058°N, -81.06283°W
- Arrival Time
Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your program start time to allow for parking and checking your party in with the ranger.
- Trail Description
Along this 3.2-mile trail hikers will enjoy many breathtaking views of the gorge and river far below. The trail is rated moderate due to several small steep hills near the trails end of Turkey Spur.
- Sun and Insects
Participants should be prepared for exposure to sun and insects.
- Water and Food
Bring as much water and snacks as you feel necessary.
- Hiking Poles
Hiking poles are permitted on all trails.
- Pets
Leashed pets are allowed on hiking trails. Leash may not be longer than 6 feet. Owners are responsible for controlling and cleaning up after their pet.
- Age Recommendation
This trail is not recommended for visitors under 5 years of age. Parents or guardians should be prepared to either turn back or carry younger children should they become tired.
