Be prepared for travel on secondary roads and unmaintained shoulders. Do not rely exclusively on your mobile GPS, Google Maps, or similar automated navigation systems to get to trailhead. Instead use the following GPS coordinates: 37.60225°N, -80.94641°W
Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your program start time to allow for parking and checking your party in with the ranger.
This moderate hiking trail follows the path of an old riverbank road. Farmed and timbered until the 1940's, this forested area now has a great diversity of plants and river wildlife. Remnants of the area's human history remain, waiting to be discovered by observant hikers.
Participants should be prepared for exposure to sun and insects.
Bring as much water and food as you feel necessary for a three hour program.
Hiking poles are permitted on all trails.
Leashed pets are allowed on hiking trails. Leash may not be longer than 6 feet. Owners are responsible for controlling and cleaning up after their pet.
This trail is not recommended for visitors under 5 years of age. Parents or guardians should be prepared to either turn back or carry younger children should they become tired.
